A successful track record of medical relief assistance worldwide, assessing how to best respond to health needs, along with substantial access to donated WHO (World Health Organization) listed pharmaceuticals has furthered CitiHope’s impact and commitment to bring life-saving medical relief to vulnerable people in Kenya.
In 2012, Kenya was selected as one of the target countries for the ShareHope health initiative created by The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, CitiHope and MedShare. The ShareHope partnership is designed to promote health, prevent disease and provide cure in targeted African countries, combining CitiHope’s expertise in delivering medicines and educating patients and healthcare providers with MedShare’s expertise in delivering medical supplies and providing biomedical training for hospital technicians.
Active in Kenya since 2011, CitiHope has established solid relationships with the Kenyan Ministry of Health and local NGO Bethesda Ministries International, delivering over $33.6 million in relief to date. CitiHope’s impact in Kenya has expanded to serve hospitals in Eldoret, Marsabit, Kisumu, and Nairobi, impacting over 220,000 patients.
