Four weeks of heavy rains have lead to major flooding in the Cibao region of the Dominican Republic. Thousands of homes have been flooded, some even destroyed. Tens of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes, roads are closed, bridges have been affected, and communities are cut off. The Ministry of Public Works is estimating the rain damage at RD$20 billion nationwide.

In immediate response to the disaster caused by the severe flooding in the north coast of Dominican Republic, CitiHope, through Sanar una Nación, delivered over $2.2 million in critically-needed medicines to flood victims. This included fortified food, water filters, hygiene kits, and insect repellent to prevent water born diseases and malnutrition.

These contributions will be used to treat related diseases such as: bacterial infections, febrile and viral Diseases, allergies, skin diseases, cardiac disease, and diabetes. Over 30,000 persons in the disaster area will be served based on the medicines, fortified food and provisions provided.

We invite you to join our disaster relief efforts in the Dominican Republic by making a donation today. Every dollar will be put into action immediately to serve those affected by the continued rain and rising waters.
